Marc My Words
by
Marc Lederman, American Mensa
Region 2 Vice-Chair
Even though our next National Election is more than a year away, the National Nominating Committee is now being formed with up to three members from each region. The members representing Region 2 are Jody Carlson from Metropolitan Washington Mensa, Pat Horsley from Delaware Valley Mensa, and Steve Kaess from Delaware Valley Mensa. These three members were selected by our LocSecs from the list of members who volunteered to serve. If anybody is interested in running for a position in the election, please contact one of our Nominating Committee members for more information.
As I write this column, I have just returned from Central New Jersey's Snowball RG. Approximately 250 people attended this year's event. I first went to Snowball in 1994, and the RG is just as good today as it was back then.
If you read this column before March 30, there is still time to check out the agenda for the March 31 AMC meeting. I have two motions on the agenda, one to create a policy on Annual Gathering (AG) hotel inspections and one to update the lengthy set of AG bid guidelines. I will also be initiating a discussion on AG registration rates and allocation of AG overhead expenses. Please contact me if you have any questions.
And speaking of Annual Gatherings, more than 1000 people have already registered for this year's AG in Reno, Nevada. You can read all about the planned programs, tours, hospitality, and meals at the AG website ag.us.mensa.org . If you're going to make the trip to Reno, consider coming in a day early to attend the Mensa Foundation Colloquium on Social and Video Games. The $69 registration fee covers all colloquium programming and a buffet lunch. For more information, visit their website at colloquium.us.mensa.org .
For the first time since 2004, the AMC will hold their quarterly meeting in our area. The March 2013 AMC meeting will be hosted by MWM in Herndon, Virginia. |
